Job Description

The Project Planner will be responsible for planning and scheduling project workloads. Gather and analyses information to prepare status reports. Ensures that assignment and scheduling of work follow company policy. Documents work orders and projects and closes them in scheduling systems.  Maintain schedules and keep project resources on track, provide regular project updates to project Manager/Project Controller, and maintain contact with discipline leads for updates on job progress. The planner’s mission is to draw up a schedule of interventions / work activities according to the needs of the project scope & deliverables. This schedule will be presented as appropriate to the job requirement (i.e. Daily) and have clear dates of execution and deadlines (i.e. Start/Finish).

Main Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Project Manager/Project Controller to generate a detailed resource loaded schedule using MS project.
  • Integrate multiple schedules into a master project schedule, base line, status and track measurement baseline.
  • Develop and maintain summary level schedule reports: Gantt, milestone charts, and other tools used to support critical path analysis, near-term tasks work, priority-based resource allocations, performance variances, and to support cost/schedule integration
  • Gather and analyse information to prepare reports on the progress of projects. Frequent on-site visits to review activity progress required
  • Support the project management team in the planning, tracking, analysis, and reporting of projects, including dashboard maintenance
  • Work in collaboration with project management team to drive consistency of the project scheduling approach to facilitate accuracy in project execution and reporting.
  • Prepare monthly project cost control report for the monitoring of the project activities daily and register all downtime, demobilizations, claims, consumptions and project related issues related to the project promptly to the project manager, Finance and management, to ensure that expenditures are kept within the project budget.
  • Forecast cost vs revenue per scope allocated on a weekly basis.
  • Track and report on the actual costs, commitments, accruals, and revenues per scope on a weekly basis for the project and compare them with the budgeted and forecasted figures.
  • Report any deviations from budget to the Project Controller and Project Manager.
  • Attend project meetings and discussions with the PMT and external clients
  • Maintain accurate records/paperwork
  • Combine the work activities sequencing as per Project Manager request to deliver the scope
  • Record “Standby” or down time by logging the information given by discipline leads.
  • Produce the daily and weekly reports for clients and the management as appropriate
  • Produce progress curves “S curve” production progress
  • Identify Progress Backlogs, Critical Paths, Warnings and improvements
  • Undertake any other ad-hoc duties as required by management.

  • Complies with all health, safety environmental as well as legal requirements to which company subscribes.
  • Assisting in execution of the contract in a safe, healthy and environmentally responsible manner

Essential Skills

  • Fluent in oral and written communication

  • Good experience in Project management tools, Microsoft project /primavera

Person Specification

Education and Training

  • BSc Degree in Engineering, Finance or Social Sciences with specialization in Project Management or Cost Control related training.
  • Technically strong in project estimation, cost planning, scheduling, reporting, and writing ability.
  • Knowledgeable in the use of MS Project, Primavera Scheduling and SAP software is highly advantageous
  • Demonstrates strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, Mature, proactive & resourceful
  • Independent worker who is able to work well with others with minimal supervision

Work Experience

  • Min 3 years relevant experience and similar capacity in project planning and project cost control preferably in Offshore Construction/EPCIC Industry, painting, insulation, fabrication/construction or oil and gas industry.
